07/05/2007 6:22 AM Alert

Hi Tim, I too am using the HouseMenu v1.4 skin object and cannot get submenus to show.

I am getting the error HouseMenuSkinObject.ascx.vb "not found" in Visual Studio in the SkinObject.ascx file, and the Host and Admin parts of the HouseMenu are not being rendered properly. See here:

ul id="HouseMenuNav">
li id="HouseMenuNavItemHome">a href="http://localhost/dnn4" title="Home">Home
li id="HouseMenuNavItem54">a id="HouseMenuNavLink54" href="/DNN4/Login/tabid/54/Default.aspx" title="Login" tabindex="1">Login
li id="HouseMenuNavItem39">a class="ArrowPointer">Admin
li id="HouseMenuNavItem7">a class="ArrowPointer">Host
/ul>

Notice the code for Admin and Host isn't right.

I wonder if the vb file missing error and this issue are connected.

I cannot find any vb file to import from the HouseMenu zip files so do not know what to do. I am also using the css you posted elsewhere which runs  the menu on this site. All else about the menu appears to be OK, except the submenus.

Perhaps I should add that the attributes in my ascx file (in Visual Studio) also show the warning "xxxxx is not a valid attribute of the element HouseMenu"

All the attributes show this warning.

dnn:HOUSEMENU runat="server" id="dnnHOUSEMENU" Scope="-1" ShowHome="True" ShowAdmin="True" ShowPageIcons="True" HidePageName="False" Orientation="H" Mode="D"

David,

The source code is not included, so I don't think you can work directly with HouseMenu in Visual Studio.

right, and thanks. Can you tell me why the menu items for Host and Admin are rendering incorrectly? (see below)

[<]li id="HouseMenuNavItem39">[<]a class="ArrowPointer">Admin
[<]li id="HouseMenuNavItem7">[<]a class="ArrowPointer">Host
/ul>

David,

I don't know why those parts of the menu are being rendered incorrectly. Obviously, it looks like there must be a typo in the code, but I haven't seen this behavior anywhere else.

BTW, I have now posted the last professional package that was released through snowcovered.com. It includes source code. You can find it on the Downloads page.
